Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication – Leonardo Da Vinci
Illustrator is a vector based program. A vector based program is when you can take an image and enlarge/shrink the photo as much as you want without it becoming pixielated. Illustrator is used for almost everything! It is used for designing posters, t-shirts, logos, caricature, etc.. Illustrator also allows you to scan photos and send them to the computer so you can trace the image you want. I have personally enjoyed this program because it allows to show more of your drawing/designing side. However, the most difficult part of using this program is getting used to the pen tool. The pen tool is mnade up of “anchor points” (example: to draw a circle, you have to use four anchor points) by clicking and then dragging it different ways to get the angle of a corner, or the shape of a curve needed.
Dividers
Continuity was the main purpose of this project. We had to create 7-9 different types of dividers but have something a little different about each one. For example, my design. I maintained the same styles and shape between each one, I only changed the colors for each background. I loved the contrast between black and any color. Having the black lettering on one half the circle and a different color on the other have made it pop more along with having the word share one letter. Like “Adobe InDesign” the two letter D’s share.
LOGO Design
The logos were very interesting to make and design. From doing up to 40 different thumbnail sketches to actually contacting our mentors about their opinion and have them give us their suggestions on how to enhance our creations. This was my first time using the pen tool to create curves and shapes for some of my logos. After we contacted our mentors, they sent a copy back with their corrections and we worked on them to learn more about typography with different ways to set up more eye-appealing look. For my top three that I designed, my last one with the bubbles I wanted to show a movement/rhythm with the circles to give it a more up beat look.
