Saving a memory is probably the best thing I have ever done for someone and myself. Being able to take a photo of something/someone and turn it into a frozen-beatuiful moment in time is remarkable. A photo can express and tell a million stories when no one else can. Photos have the power to feel like you know someone without even meeting them. For a short story, I wouldn’t be alive today if it wasn’t for a photo. My moms uncle and my dad were military friends and one day my dad was at his house. My dad saw a picture of my mom and instantly fell in love with her. If my dad never saw that picture of my mom, I wouldn’t be here today. Photograpghy has always been a huge factor of my life. Every picture has it’s own vibes that it gives off. For example, a wedding picture of a bride and groom kissing. You can feel the amount of love in that picture because you see two people that are in love. Or you see an old couple laughing on a bench and it makes you smile because you can see the happiness between two people who still make each other laugh. That’s what I love about photography.
My passion for photography started when I was watching my dad take photos of his old muscle cars. He trades them all the time and he’ll work on them and make them 10x better than they were before. He would take photos of them before he started, then take photos during the process of him working on it, then one last picture when he finishes working on them. He would go through the pictures and see how much change there was from when he started to when he finishes. To me, it would be looking at the past of an old-rusty car that looks like it hasn’t been touched in years to a completely new-shiny car that looks like its never had a problem in it’s life. After he would do that he would trade them and do it all over again. He has tons of pictures on his wall in his garage of them and he would tell me a story about each one from when he once had it. How he drove all around in a 1963, VW Thing while he was over seas for the military with his friends. Or a picture of him and his trophy from when he used to race cars. Or even how he found my mom by see a photograph of her at my uncles house when they were young. A photo can mean a lot to people and tell a story you wouldn’t expect! That’s what I found beautiful about photography. To be able to freeze time forever in a photo. It’s memories that wont ever be forgotten.
I got my first camera when I was about 5 years old and it was a disposable camera. You would not believe the amount of camera’s I had laying around the house when I was younger. I would photograph the most random things from candles to shoes to flowers to anything! Every holiday I would ask for some kind of camera and I would ask to get the film developed as soon as possible. I’ve always had a passion for photography and my passion has gave me real jobs. Some of the jobs I did were attending a horse riding competition and I had to take pictures of a competitor riding a horse and I’ve also done a weddings, senior pictures, and family portraits. I have also gotten calls for job’s like building apps after I graduate high school for an internship. Most recently, my passion is taking my to Nationals for SkillsUSA in photography.
